I've been listening to Hozier and Kongos lately.
Kongos has a really interesting sound. Predictably, I hear their popular songs first: Kids These Days, My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark. I have long since given up shame at listening to pop music. To be fair, I heard My Songs through an alt station (and it caught my attention because it was one of the few songs that wasn't from the 90s/early 00s, good god).
EDITED: Okay, so pretty much all of Lunatic is awesome. Blending alternative with kwaito is amazing.
Hozier I'm enjoying because I really like acoustic sets -- primarily for their focus on lyrics, a single instrument, and singing, which to me conveys a certain amount more of talent and expression -- and also because his songs have a religious meditation aspect to them. I don't do that very much any more (it is sadly true that things become so static in your life as you age) so I like the opportunity to consider it.
