Well, I have problems with Monster too, but it's got pathos itself. New Adventures in Hi-Fi is mostly a somewhat elegant exercise in boredom at its best.

Apocalyptica: Riot Lights

New Apocapalyptica! It is a fairly different album in that they have one steady singer this time and the vocal tracks solidly outnumber the instrumentals. Odd change for me since it makes them feel more like a normal band (I always preferred the instrumentals) but I am getting used to it and there is some good stuff here.

Apocalyptica: Dead Man's Eyes

Reminds me of the kind of thing Garbage always uses to end their albums. Slow, deliberate tempo, moody and brooding, trances out hypnotically in the latter third or so. As I've no doubt remarked before: good way to close things out.

I heard it was a Mumford & Sons without banjo and lost interest immediately. Their best songwriting almost entirely runs through the banjo lines.
