Greetings travelers. Welcome to the Fact Center. My name is Haolahn the Minstrel. Most of you already know me as the Teller of Untold Tales, a seeker of facts buried beneath history. Here in the RPGDL, that is my purpose - to provide for those who seek the truth. I will not merely recite legends such as that of Mirsa the Brave and the Destiny Stones; nor shall I provide a painstaking history of the Varnnes Empire or the Holy King and his Four Comrades. Here I will tell you tales of other worlds, the truth behind the facts you think you know. I shall begin with the story of the well known Family of Fiagro, the past of King Edgar Roni Figaro and his brother Mathias Reni Figaro... The brothers were born the children of King Stewart Lemi Figaro and Queen Christiel. Both were healthy children, but the Queen passed away soon after giving birth to them. But that was not the end of the troubles that plagued the family. Despite his healthy birth, Mathias's health quickly deteriorated as he grew. At age of eight, Mathias entered the apprenticeship of Master Duncan Hacoot, training at the martial artist's abode twice a week to improve his health. At the age of 14, the siblings participated in the Ant Lion hunt, Rite de Passage of the Figaro Family. The siblings managed to capture the largest Ant Lion to date, an event that prophesized their future - to be the bringers of a great storm of chaos to the world. But little do people know what the hunt meant for the siblings - Mathias spent the entire venture with a fever approaching 40 centrigrade, dehydrated and desperate. And the very reason Mathias fell ill was because Edgar had forced Mathias to play at the beaches of Kohlingen, as the ceremony creeped upon the two brothers. Yet Mathias, despite his sickness, carried on without a complaint or sign of weakness, which made Edgar ashamed of his impudent ways. Soon, Edgar was wracked with another dismaying event. At the age of 15, He had fallen in love with his own aunt, Duchess Genevia, the cousin of King Stewart. Knowing King Edgar, I doubt many would believe being a distant relative would hinder his pursuit of female grace. And it certainly did not - what troubled Edgar was the fact that Duchess Genevia was already in love Jeffry McRoud, a hero to the siblings (also hence Edgar's pseudonym: Jef, for those who have played Japanese version). The Knight and the Duchess were already in a dilemma due to their status - a Duchess marrying a mere Knight was unthinkable. The young prince knew better than to burden them with his own issues. Mathias was not without his own share of problems either. Contrary to Edgar who grew determined to become a king, the younger brother grew to favor a life outside the palace. However, Mathias desired to assist his brother as well, and these conflicting thoughts had been troubling him. He had tried resolve the issue by asking Edgar to leave the palace with him but Edgar declined. Then, as if they had not sufferred enough, another tragedy struck when the siblings turned 16. Cardinal Frances Labon plotted to assassinate King Stewart, his own brother. Though the attempt ended in failure, a great price had been paid - Genevia and her lover both died protecting the king. The Cardinal had born huge hatred towards his brother and father since his youth. The Cardinal, despite being born with clear blue eyes (a symbol of status in Figaro), was physically frailer than his brother. For that, Frances was looked down upon by his own father and was envious of Stewart ever since. I'm sure you can understand how such emotions would lead him to betray his own flesh and blood. The Cardinal was not excuted for his crime, only imprisoned. But the true tragedy was the fact that Duchess Genevia and Sir McRoud had died in vain - King Stewart died a year later, a victim of an assassination attempt conducted by the Gesthal Empire's newly "completed" magician... The night we all knew too well then followed. The coin toss and the departure. And the fight against the empire... I hope this was enlightening for you. The truth is a mysterious thing, woven into many strands like the tapestries of a great spiderweb, tangled and twisted into a thing of beauty and strength. Let me guide you through this web in the future. |
