Lavos was a unique villain in that he had a very believable not-so-evil motivation: Hunger. Yes, Lavos is a giant space monster that travelled to Earth (or whatever the name of the Chrono Trigger Planet is) to consume it and make baby giant space monsters to send to other planets. He's almost cute, in a way. Still, you'd think that anyone who eats planets would have more than one win to their name.
