The Obsidian General Duessel is another of the loyal retainers of the Grado Empire, but much like others, he begins to see the truth behind the ambitions of the Emperor and the prince. During the preparation of a fight against the prince of Renais, Ephraim, it is revealed that Selena has been sent to kill Duessel for his dissent against the will of the empire. He is recruited by Ephraim during that fight, and continues to fight for the side of good for the rest of the journey. He is a battle-hardened veteran with tons of experience, and it shows in his fighting ability.
