The army encounters him while he is attempting to protect Innes, who hired him. Gerik shows his valiant and more compassionate side by protecting the prince of Frelia even after being released of his services. He is the close companion of the dancer Tethys and the swordmaster Marisa, and they all join the cause to fight against the empire, and never turn back.

He has had to fight two members of his own cast twice already, and while he beat the bratty princess L'Arachel, he didn't have much success against another member of the game's royalty, Lyon. I guess they say you can't win 'em all. But a victory over the game's main enemy would have been a nice morale booster...
