Rune Walsh, the last living heir to the legacy of the legendary Esper Lutz Walsh, is one of the most powerful characters in Phantasy Star IV. He was the one who showed Chaz Ashley his true potential, and without his determination and might, the protectors of Algol wouldn't be able to overcome even the Dark Wizard Zio, let alone the Profound Darkness.

In the DL, Rune had to deal with much less threatening (and more annoying) quibbles. First, he found a rival that, in his eyes, is much worse than the embodiment of darkness: Justin, the incredibly stupid adventurer from Grandia, who foiled Rune's plans one too many times in the League. Fortunately, though, Rune later managed to ream the Middle division in season 13, rising to the coveted and heated Heavy ranks. He still yearns to smack Justin upside the head and stop his immense stupidity from spreading in the DL, though.
