Zio, the Black Magician, is one of the most popular villains in the Phantasy Star series. Having a strong appeal not only in plot, but as a boss, the Black Wave-slinger who devotes his life to build a sect of worship for Dark Force in order to destroy all existence developed a sure and steady following of fans and haters.

DL-wise, his most notable shenanigans happened when he had the bad luck to face his own God... the Profound Darkness. Which ended up in his splattering, unsurprisingly.
