You wouldn't expect an anthropomorphic duck to be a seasoned war veteran and mentor figure to a young hero, but Sergeant Joe fits that bill. Travelling alongside Hugo of Karaya in his journeys, he proved to be both a valuable father figure for the fatherless boy and a skilled combatant, wielding his Water Rune and a surprisingly powerful halberd. These same traits served him well in Season 4, where he claimed a Middle Championship and upgraded to Heavy, though he has had less luck in later appearances.
