Created due to the rapid development of naval warfare, the weapon was far too advanced for the time, and no one had any way of defending against it. As for the reason of how weapons can go from conventional to mass destruction in such a short time frame, historians all point to one man who was the root of it all: Warlock, the creator of the Rune Canon.

More a man of research than one of combat, Warlock sees the DL as a scientific curiosity. A dimension connected to various worlds, where the dead live and the dark gods' powers are easily controlled. What secrets does it contain, and why does it exist solely for the sake of battle? Warlock cares not for the duels, though he is more than fair with his magic and his body is deceptively agile despite his age, what he cares for are these questions and the possible discoveries their answers will bring. And if his mind proves too feeble to comprehend them, well... the Duelling League provides a safe haven from those who wants his head, at least.
