Many would consider Zelos a very straightfoward man - he's all about the hunnies, and having a pleasurable life. But the Chosen of Mana is far deeper than that. While his initial machinations for joining Lloyd's group upon their arrival in Tethe'alla were shrouded in mystery, Zelos still had his own secrets. Hating the life of the Chosen, hating the style of life it indicated for him, Zelos resented how it was his "destiny" to be the Chosen - shouldn't you have a choice? Zelos nonetheless kept quiet his thoughts, until his betrayal at the Tower of Salvation in Tethe'alla - or that's what some say. It's not exactly clear: one story goes that Zelos 'betrayed' Lloyd and company, but only to catch Mithos off guard, and eventually aided in the eventual defeat of the mad angel, finally releasing Zelos of his duties as Chosen. Others say Zelos did truly betray Lloyd and crew, and fought them as a dreaded angel to the death - which also incidently released him of his duties as Chosen. No matter how the stories go, Zelos finally did find the peace he wished for while travelling with Lloyd.

Zelos is a superbly trained fighter, fast and strong, with powerful magic to aid him. With powerful armours and the dreaded Last Fencer by his side, very few can stand up to his skilled techniques for long.
