Rivals United

Melbu Frahma used to be respected and feared. "THAT FOOL ENDED IT ALL." Powerful and strong... until his debut in the DL. Not only did he lose to a former middle, but it was to a... hero, of all people. "I SHALL HAVE MY REVENGE." Oh, he hadn't forgotten the mage who attacked him, either.

He knew just the person who could help..

Sue sighed. "Justin and Mr. Rune, can you stop arguing? Feena already left."

Justin just stared at the smirking Esper with rage. "He tried to put the moves on my girlfriend again!"

"Maybe if the villiage idiot knew how to treat a girl instead of blathering about adventure..."

"STILL FIGHTING, FOOLS?"

Melbu Frahma's ringing voice got the attention of Justin and Rune. "Take a look at this!" A magical screen appeared in front of the duo, and in the center of the Duelling League ring stood Feena, tied to the ground. Next to her stood a grinning Baal.

"Remember me, Rune? You stole that match from me back then, and the idiot boy next to you robbed Melbu. We're going to teach you two a lesson you won't forget soon about messing with your betters."

Rune just laughed. "Why would I do this? I have interest in the girl, but it's not worth the effort."

"BECAUSE OF THIS." The screen panned out. Next to Feena stood a small stack of photos. "IT'S PHOTOS OF YOU FROM THE PARTY AFTER CHAZ'S WEDDING NIGHT." Baal laughed, and cut in. "Wouldn't want these getting out, would you?"

Justin and Rune looked at each other and spoke at once. "They're dead!" The two ran off towards the arena, both, for once, in perfect agreement on something.

  • The heroes save Feena and destroy the photos
  • The heroes are destroyed by the combined awesome of the villians.

Yawning, Chaz limped out from the nurse's office. He had taken a hell of a beating at the hands of the Profound Darkness. ".Huh. Where's Rune?" The esper was supposed to meet him there, and drag him back home.

The sounds of combat caught Chaz's ears. "What the..? That's Rune!" There was no mistaking that voice, or those spells that were being flung about. "..Coming from the arena, by the sounds of it."

---

Chaz entered the arena, and saw a shocking site. Rune and Justin, hated rivals, were standing together and attacking... two creatures of some sort. It was hard to tell what they were, considering the giant slashes and magical burns covering their bodies.

"Blackmail me, will you?!" Rune cursed and fired off another Nafoi at the twitching bodies, while Justin just yelled and smacked the enemies with the spirit sword, over and over. Chaz went to try and stop Rune, but tripped over something on the way.

"mmm. MPFH!"

Chaz looked down and saw a gagged Feena at his feet. Sighing, he reached down and cut her from her ropes. "Why are those two still fighting!" Feena stood up, annoyed. In her hands were some photos of Rune.

.."Are those photos from the party after my wedding night? Wow.. no wonder Rune's angry."

Feena just smiled at Chaz. "Don't worry about those." Feena stood up straight and walked out, leaving Chaz to deal with the annoyed duo who had so brutally smote Melbu and Baal.

Justin and Rune: 49
Baal and Melbu: 20

Justin's main problem was that he never had anyone with real wit and intellect aiding him. With Rune directing his moves, rivalry or no rivalry, do you REALLY think the villains have a shot between our two heros? I thought not.

Hate can be an interesting tool.

Sure, Rune "teamed up" with Justin, he still burned with a passion to annhilate him.

But how to do it without killing the poor fool?

Well, "supporting" Justin with "magic sword" techniques can help harm all his foes. Hey, it worked for ever-hiding-his-intents Vivi on Steiner, it can work for the arrogant Esper.

So, when all's said and done, Justin is mostly toasty, whilst Melbu and Baal are very dead. So, Rune gets the girl, and goes on his merry little way.

Unfortunately for him, he forgot all about his pictures that were still there, and Justin was mostly conscious from that still.....
