Season 32, Week 1
Empyrea
(Dragon Quest 8)

A mad programming nerd against a massive bird entity? Ha! This is what the RPGDL is all about! A match between two new bloods to the arena, eager to prove themselves in victory and avoid the crushing shame of losing in their first match. However, most unfortunately for the programmer Luther, the luck of the draw seems to have given him the bird indeed. A Godbird, even. While Luther’s offence is by no means mockable (quite the contrary, really), it takes something far more impressive to match up to Empyrea’s incredible defense and HP pool, and the longer it takes him to whittle her down, the more time she has to lay into him with her own vicious attacks. Luther may play at being a God fairly effectively in his world of fun and games, but he’s simply out of his depth when up against the real thing. Even if we're talking birds.

All of the RPG Duelling League is mere data for Luther Lansfeld, head of Sphere Corp., to mold as he desires. Empyrea shall pose no challenge for the evil programmer: after all, he can merely delete her existence with the click of a mouse! Armed with the programming knowledge of the future - C++++++ and 3-D Basic - Luther's genius will be something Empyrea cannot hope to match! His powerful Laser Beams spell can pierce the bird's mighty defenses without problem, which will be the deciding factor in this battle. Empyrea's own magic is nowhere near strong enough to slay Luther, and Luther's own psychotic agility will allow him to dodge anything the Godbird counters with. Madness, genius...call it what you will, but know that Luther is not a nerd to be underestimated.

Strength. Speed. Stamina.

Luther's avatar, crafted by the finest mind in the world-himself-had it all.

His final gasp was that of annihilating the universe.

What possible threat could a simple bird pose?

"Why...won't...you...die...you...worthless...creature!?" Luther bellowed impotently.

Empyrea simply chuckled.

"...You know, this wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been so pompous about his plot powers." Kuja noted from his judges box. "I think Empyrea decided to use her 'I never died in a normal battle." plot power herself. Amusing."

"Isn't that illegal?" Surt noted.

"Of course." Citan said, with a shrug.

"Just making sure. That worthless fool keeps threatening to delete me every time I pass him in the halls. It's time he learned real life isn't a game." Surt chuckled. "Let's wait until he passes out to declare him the winner."

"GLARRRGGLLHLHLHLLL!" Lavos shrieked, as it proceeded to fire massive blasts of energy down at Luther.

"...is that legal?" Surt asked.

"Lavos is a judge." Citan said, sighing. "Why do I ever let them draft me into these judge positions..." He added under his breath.

"...So, yes. Don't tell me he was stupid enough to insult Lavos...?" Surt asked.

"He was. Something about him being an inferiorly designed random battle." Kuja noted.

"...Even if he wins a lot, he's going to have a rough time here." Surt noted, shaking his head.

Empyrea: 33
Luther Lansfeld: 36

It turns out that Luther and Empyria will go at it. Sorry Empyria, but Luther just has far too many advantages against you, especially since he's a 4-D being, I'm not even sure Empyria would be a match for those things that destroyed entire starships that were meant to erase the Milky Way galaxy of "corrupted" data. Luther starts an onslaught of offence, making Empyria fly away with it's head down in shame. Luther then proceeds to win the DL Godlike championship.

Think of it like this: if Empyrea were so strong, she would've beaten Rhapthorne herself. Plus Luther could've just deleted her.
