Season 44, Week 3
Vandesdelca Musto Fende
(Tales of the Abyss)

Exterminating Cecilia will be no harder than deviating from the Score for General Van Grants. Even under extreme pressures, Van is cool under fire, unwilling to bend to the demands of fate. He's a man of many masks and layers, and he's come into his own during his second DL appearance. Cecilia's noted frailty to physicals and reliance on magic absorption to win her fights do her no good against the power of Van's deadly physical strikes. Buffing? Delaying tactics? Worthless, Van has the ability to smash past any such attempt. Imperial Slaughter, Ancient Requiem.. the pain goes on, and the Mystic Artes keep on smashing. Cecilia can throw up all the puny Shield spells in the world, it won't stop Van from ending the fight with a single action and sending him for a tremendous showdown with whatever Final Fantasy villain wins in the top part of the bracket.

Cecilia's path towards a Godlike championship is bound to be flooded by hardships, as her last battle can attest. However, standing tall and triumphant, the princess of Adlehyde faces yet another Tales villain; one less tragic, but far more cunning and manipulative. Vandesdelca Musto Fende, he who played his antagonists like a fiddle and brought forward chaos and strife, may be a dangerous foe for many... but, to his chagrin, he is entirely a limit fighter. At full HP, he has nothing to decisively handle the princess with, which just lets her begin her unparalleled buffing and debuffing games. Once Cecilia has all her stat-enhancing spells stacked to infinity, there is nothing that could even hope to stop her - not even Van's heralded Mystic Artes. The villains may change, but the result shall remain one and the same. Cecilia's inner strength shall carry her forward!

It promised to be a simple match.

Cecilia would simply boost her defenses and speed to the stratosphere, then take whatever Van threw at her.

Simplicity, really.

There was nothing to be done about it, the match was hopeless.

Then Van smashed her face in with Lightning Stab.

It turns out that Van, a master swordsman already, hasn't let coming to the League dull his skills.

And that having Kary and Queen Zeal on the judges panel was a lucky break for him.

Regardless, despite the unfairness of it all, Cecilia, Godlike's whipping girl, falls again.

Of course, Van woke up three days later in a G-string with a bunch of hooting, perverted girls shoving dollar bills at him.

This is the Duelling League after all. It's not like any deed goes unrewarded.

Perhaps this match is a cliche.

Then again, usually Hanpan isn't hypnotizing old men into taking it all off.

So perhaps not?
