Season 52, Week 3
Mewtwo
(Pokémon Series)

Only in the DL would a genetically enhanced super kitty from a children's TV series go up against an almighty Demon Overlord on the way towards a championship! Despite the complete and utter absurdity this match seems to be on the surface, Mewtwo approaches this fight just like any other he gets into. A few Amnesias, a few Barriers, a few Recovers in the mix, some awesome speed to make the excellent buffing strategy work, and suddenly his opponent won't have any real ways of hurting this psychic feline at all. After his defenses are up, he has nothing to fear, as his opponent will fall to a few quick Psychic blasts. Fortunately, as Psyduck proves, it hits even the brainless, so that won't help poor, poor Zenon's chances to win here...

Bah. Last week, Zenon fought Chaos, a time-travelling lord of destruction. A worthy foe for the overlord of overlords, to be sure. This week? He fights someone's pet kitty, run amok. Talk about a step down. As usual, Zenon's strategy is straightforward and perfectly in line with his personality: hit the enemy until he stops moving. It's not fancy, but bruce force usually gets the job done and, really, who cares about how you achieved victory as long as you're the only one standing at the end, right? Right. Dark Revenge will keep the kitty on the defensive right from the start, and should Mewtwo live long enough to wear Zenon down to 25% HP, the overlord's damage boost will kick in and demonstrate, once and for all. what carnage truly is.

Mewtwo's natural inclination to read his foe's mind was tempered by his long ago run in with the Horn of Valmar, who shattered his mind with the power of Chrono Cross plot. He tossed away such feeble mental games and instead went in to smash Zenon into atoms with Psychic. Zenon, being a creature of true genius, studied the last person to crush Mewtwo and prepared accordingly. He arrayed thousands of mind traps and studied with Kevin Winnicot to master the power of horrid plot twists. His mind was ready for such a battle.

Much like the last time Zenon got cute with a plan, he went to the well one too many times and was caught off guard by his foe. His studying of such demonic rites as T-ELOS plot had sapped his time and energy away from combat preparation and left him defenseless for the straight up ass kicking that Mewtwo delivered.
Well, no one ever said Zenon was a genius.
