This, THIS is a true battle for the aqua lord Kyogre. A mighty struggle between two worthy contenders, each hailed as the strongest of their lands, two who know how to battle as only Pokémon do. Indeed, even the age-old question of nature versus science has bearing here, as a genetic mutant faces down the mythological lord and creator of the ocean! The battle itself will be hard-fought, but Kyogre can match Mewtwo point for point: its immense special defense offsets Mewtwo's offense and ability to strike first, Mewtwo's attempts to improve its own defense with Amnesia are easily countered with Calm Mind, and with Drizzle and the more potent Hydro Pump to work with, Kyogre holds the offensive advantage. Should Mewtwo turtle with Recover, Kyogre can match suit with Rest. This will be a great duel, but Kyogre will prove its supremacy without doubt. |

Hah! A goddess falls, and now Mewtwo faces a much more familiar foe - to the point of being something hailing from his own world, even. Kyogre may look more fearsome than the kitty, but Mewtwo knows which one holds the tide in this match – and the whale of doom ain't it. Kyogre's most fearsome attacks mean little in the face of Mewtwo's amazing magic resilience, and any other damage from Kyogre will seem pitiful, thanks to the potent healing of Recover. Then, once Kyogre has thrown all that it can muster at Mewtwo, he can strike back with some powerful attacks of his own - his Psychic is terrifying at the best of times, and it's backed by the sheer brilliance of Amnesia, one of the best buffs in the Duelling League. That's not to mention Mewtwo's speed advantage. It looks like it's time for Kyogre to sink, making way for the true Godlike champion! |
Paltheos A showdown between two magical tanks, but unfortunately for Kyogre, Mewtwo gets the drop on him at every corner. Mewtwo is faster, his boosting move works twice as quickly, his recovery move is better in this fast-paced fight, and RBY mechanics give him extra insurance in sealing the deal. Kyogre could try to freeze Mewtwo with Ice Beam and instantly win the fight, or Body Slam-para and Sheer Cold to OHKO him, but he's getting in at most 3 moves. It's much more likely that Mewtwo will have pounded him into the ground by then. Kyogre: 7 Barubary
