Season 29, Week 2
Rubicant
(Final Fantasy IV)

The greatest of all fiends of fire returns to the DL this season, intending to blaze a path through Godlike. The first victim for Rubicant is Scias, the doglike warrior. Although the sword-wielding dog posesses a powerful ice attack, Rubicant can survive it easily. Scias, on the other hand, has little chance of surviving Rubicant's potent Glare attack, even with the Magma Armor on. A blast or two of fiery overkill will roast Scias like little else can. Scias might not even get off an attack, since Rubicant has good speed himself. Rubicant shall fight an honorable duel this week... that cannot but end in a victorious fire fiend and a very, very well done dog.

Scias, the silent, stuttering swordsman, makes his grand return to Godlike in what should be an intense match indeed: Rubicant, the incredibly powerful Fire Fiend. Sadly for Rubicant, however, Scias has a good grasp of ice and healing magic: furthermore, his Magma Armor reduces Fire damage by half, making this an elementary match. Rubicant cannot do enough damage to dream of outslugging Scias, and Scias' healing and above average speed allows him to easily get enough turns in to demolish Rubicant. With his fighting talent and his determination to beat his friend Ryu in one-on-one combat, Scias' worth in Godlike is about to be proven.

Ice against fire.

A simple match, right?

After all, fire melts ice, producing water, which puts out the fire.

And so, a puddle of anthropomorphic sheepdog defeats the Fiend of Fire. Simple.
