Season 56, Week 3
Kyogre
(Pokémon Series)

The almighty doom-whale sails on to the second round. Awaiting the aquatic terror here is none other then Royce of the Vile Tribe, a magic user who specializes in...fire. Well, this is going to get very ugly, very fast. While Royce's fire magic is far more powerful then any Kyogre is used to, it's still barely enough to make him yawn thanks to his innate resistance and the torrential downpour he brings with him wherever he goes. And while we're raining on her parade, Royce brings one more thing to this match that you never want to bring against Kyogre. A weakness to water attacks. With the crushing power of Waterspout, Royce is in very real danger of being washed away in a single blow, though even if she does manage to hang on there is nothing that can save her from a second.

Worthless curs! Won't these fools ever learn? Royce fears no mythical creatures! After she made mincemeat of that dragon boy, they try to stop the Vile Tribe's pride and joy with a giant magical whale? A downgrade, to say it with the kindest wording possible! Of course, Kyogre's water mastery could be a problem in a vacuum, as it means the creature is resistant to Royce's brutal fire magic, but she has equally brutal physical skills to solve that problem - and Kyogre might be one of the most fearsome bosses in the Pokemon pantheon, but it's no less vulnerable to her Firebird than Ryu was - which is to say, completely. Having the sheer durability to endure Kyogre's Waterspout easily enough, Royce is bound to manage an easy victory! To the semifinals, Vile Tribe!

Gatewalker
Royce knew she was in hot water with this fight.

She had flooded the judges with requests to turn this contest into something more favorable for her then a straight fight, but was met with nothing but a steady stream of denials.

As the match drew closer and her odds of getting an advantage trickled away, she finally thought 'Dam the odds!' and swore to find some way to turn the tide in this battle!

But alas, her well of resolve was drained away in the face of the merciless whale. With one mighty waterspout, Royce's dreams of victory were washed away in a river of aquatic violence.

As Kyogre floated on to the next round, not even sparing the thought to taunt his fallen opponent, Royce lay in a puddle of despair upon the floor. It was over for her. And not even at the hands of a legendary hero or a bigger and badder boss. Just an overgrown fish who couldn't care less about her if it actively tried.

Life's a beach, ain't it?
