Godlike veteran Royce finds herself facing a lesser warlock with no experience in the division this week. She may be a former Heavy herself, but she at least managed a championship there, unlike her opponent. Magus's unimpressive physical attack is all he has to back up his counters, meaning Royce easily has enough time to destroy his barriers with her fearsome Shot Lancer. For the frail dark mage, the loss of his artificial defenses means the end of the fight. If the prophet's foresight were as accurate as the fortune teller's, Magus would already be packing his bags for the downgrade pool.

Vile sorceresses are no stranger to Magus; after all, his very mother was one. That's not the only reason Magus is happy about this match, though! Royce, though an imposing opponent, plays right into Magus' strengths. Her damage is both physical and fire-elemental, meaning it's completely extinguished by Magus's barrier. As long as it holds, he'll have the huge durability advantage. Royce is also weak to ice, which means that the Ice 2 counters Magus throws out will hurt that much more. Royce may be a fortune teller, but even she will have to bow before the Prophet.

You know, Royce would have a chance here. With her massive durability edge over Magus, and having better damage, she should put up a fight right?
Well, no, see, Royce lacks a little something called "Speed" which Magus has plenty of. And Magus has counters. And said counters can (occassionally) hit her weakness. And he has barriers totally nerfing her damage. And having all those things, really nerfs Royce's chances of winning this fight.
Royce: 16
Magus (Janus Zeal): 40

I see prophet's barrier as random, so Royce has the firepower to tank him out. Magus' durability just can't keep the pace with the witch's far superior damage.
