As he strives toward his second championship, Ryu the third meets a new kind of contestant this week: a fellow shapeshifter. Next to Ryu’s Dragon forms, though, Yuri’s fusions look like first-level Goo Mages. While Yuri does have a notable speed advantage and can attack immediately after transforming, his fusions can’t stand up to the massive HP and attack prowess of the IRT Dragon. All it will take is a Bonebreak, a few Auras, and one badly beaten Hyuga to prove that the power of Harmonixing is but a shadow of the glory of Accession.

At first glance, Yuri may seem to be at a disadvantage during this match. All things considered, his fusion abilities - and DL record - seem to be dwarfed by his opponent’s. Ryu’s offer impressive defenses, heavy ITD damage, and huge HP boosts that can be used multiple times. Despite this, Yuri is coming in cocky and confident because he knows he can hit the Ryu 3's fatal Achilles heel: his AP reliance. A casting or two of Mind Assault and the once mighty Ryu will be rendered humble, human, and powerless to stop the crippling onslaught of For the Children.

Yuri has two options. The first is to drain away Ryu's AP using one of the Dark Fusions, then kill him with Seraphic Radiance. And get killed by one Aura when Ryu has the AP to stay transformed, and one Bonebreak after he loses it. The other is to use Seraphic Radiance right off the bat, using his speed and the fact that he doesn't have to wait a round to attack after transforming, and destroy Ryu with For the Children before he transforms. A much better plan, wouldn't you say?
