The Profound Darkness, the ultimate villain of the Phantasy Star world. The horrifying embrace of the greatest evil dwelling in the heart of all existence. Quite a daunting presence, indeed. However, the everlooming darkness has had some troubles as of late in the Arena. Kefka, Luca Blight, and Myria - all inferior evils - have taken their turns at knocking her off and claiming the Godlike championships that could've rightfully belonged to the Profound Darkness... but now, she's back for her sixth try at the Godlike championship! And she faces fellow plotless final boss Chaos in a war of overwhelming shadows. Whatever will Ms. Profound Darkness do? Oh, right. Her tried and true tactics: tank hits with her three, incredibly durable forms and cast Megid to punish her enemies with holy destruction (weird for a dark being, no?). Complex she's not, but who needs complexity with this degree of might?

While it may not be able to turn water into wine like its counterpart in Middle, there are some things that this enigma of disorder and dischord do far better! Like altering the fabric of reality, creating time loops, reviving elemental fiends and cheating on taxes. The original villain of the RPG worlds is back, and it's ready to do some old-skool kicking of butts! Chaos will show this 'Profound Darkness' thing just what true evil really is. Oh sure, Profound Darkness has a more imposing name and a PG-13 rating, but what else can it really do? Chaos wields the greatest magicks in the Final Fantasy world, including such awesome spells as NUKE, QAKE, and FAST. A casting of FAST will allow Chaos to go hand-to-tentacle with Profound Darkness, and with CUR4 to restore him to full health when it needs it, Chaos will soon prove that it takes more than a cool name to become a true villain!

It was one of the most celebrated contests of evil to be held in many a year. The Profound Darkness, that which held all of Algol under its power for millenia. Chaos, the self-fullfilling prophecy. Villains from all over looked forward to their epic clash.
In a shocking move, the respective victims of these two monstrous entities decided to protest the match and deny the terrors of universes innumerable their sport.
Naturally, they were dealt with swiftly. Not wanting to be shown up before their own even, Profound Darkness and Chaos stole most of the action. Backed by his Fiends, Chaos slaughtered many.
Profound Darkness, unfathomably using its second form, ate most of the rest.
Far more thrilled by the slaughter than any actual battle between the duellers might have provided, the judges in this match, an unusual group consisting of Gadan, Belome, and Jibril, ruled the match based on the wanton destruction of the innocent. Given their shared backgrounds in villainy, it was no surprise that the cullinary methods of Profound Darkness struck a special chord in their black hearts, earning the Terror of Algol a delicious victory.
