Season 51, Week 1
Ash Lambert
(Vandal Hearts)

Ash is no stranger to fighting peculiar demons, and while Melfice is pretty tough, and packs one hell of a punch, the Vandalier can take more hits than a brick wall and does plenty of damage himself. Melfice's usual bag of tricks won't do much here, as Ash can shred through his HP before he can really get going. His array of stat buffs, healing moves, and other magic abilities just gives him even more of an edge against Melfice. Even if Melfice lands a hit, and that's by no means a given considering Ash's evade, he'll have to get lucky more than once, and sooner or later, his luck will run out. Ash doesn't need luck, just the power of the Vandal Heart. And it will see him through this match, and all the matches to come.

It doesn't get much more titanic than this. Two former Godlike champions clash in the first round. What better way is there to start off a season than with a match worthy of the finals? Well, it's too bad that the heroic Ash, multitalented though he might be, is no match for the Horn of Valmar. Melfice has a massive edge in speed, to the point of constantly getting three turns to two of Ash's. Not that the Vandalier can even hit Melfice, as he deals almost all of his damage with his physical attack and thus will have no luck tagging Melfice with those strikes. Move Block and Sshhh! shut down Ash's skillset, leaving him defenseless to either a brutal blitzing or a crippling defeat from Melfice's status attacks.

"I SHALL SPLINTER YOUR BONES! BOW BEFORE ME! YOU WILL DIE! I SHALL CUT ASUNDER YOUR EARTHLY BONDS!" Melfice babbled.

The strategy was simple.

Say enough random VA, and eventually you distract the opponent into losing.

Oh, sure, it worked. A match this close, any edge will work.

But at what price?

Well, a pretty high one. I mean, it's going to cost a lot to get the tapes of him yelling Poison Blow the same way as Genevieve and BANG BANG ATTBANG BANG ATTBANG BANG ATTACK out of the media.

But hey, you sometimes have to pay a price for victory.
