Season 34, Week 3
Beatrix
(Final Fantasy IX)

If only Beatrix could rack up eyes like she collects wins. One down, three to go as she continues her march to the Heavy finals against Athos, a man who is much older, wiser and drags his knuckles only slightly less than Janus Cascade. Old age does that, sadly. There have been some nasty rumors spread by her opponent's faction that her MDef isn't up to snuff for this fight. Outright lies and slander. Just because she lost to Cecelia doesn't mean she can't trash mages. Especially straight-up offensive mages like Athos. A Shock, some high damage physicals and Athos will be sent straight back to ye olde magical nursing home.

Beatrix is certainly more pleasing on the eyes than the hideously scarred and muscled Gruga. Athos will have to pause and savor it before destroying her and moving on to the semi-finals; it's rare that the old Archsage gets a chance to look at such a fine female specimen as Alexandria's defender. Perhaps love is in the air? Well, maybe not - she's not likely to have the same opinion of him, after all. But Athos can solve all of these worries in a few quick castings of Forblaze. Beatrix's low magic defense and evasion will leave her open to Athos's strongest magical spells, which means the fight can be summed up one word: "splat."

Sei
Ah, Athos. Great Archsage, one of the legendary Heroes of Elibe, ancient master magician with a millenia's worth of knowledge and spells...

Beatrix: "Reflect"

All that means diddly squat when you can't get around a basic enchantment that most duelists with a bit of White Magic experience can cast.

Beatrix: 71
Athos: 12
