Season 18, Week 1
Seed
(Suikoden II)

Highland Army warriors have had great success in the RPGDL's Heavy division, with a 6-1 record between Jowy and Luca Blight. As one of the Highland army's top generals, Seed appears poised to continue the legacy of success. Seed's ninja opponent may be fast, but Seed can attack twice to each normal character's single attack. This spells trouble for Shu, as Seed is very proficient in fire magic, and Shu has very weak magic defense. Seed can also shrug off Shu's best source of damage, Time Bomb, which is completely nullified by his boss immunities. Seed should have no problem winning his first match, and striking yet another blow for the Highland army.

Sixteen seasons have marched by since Shu first tried and failed to get a berth in the DL. And after what may be one of the all-time greatest snubs in Duelling League history, his entry into the field of battle comes as a shock to any who know his history. But while the cool-headed ninja may be slightly overwhelmed by actually getting a match, it won't affect his battle prowess. He's bringing a machine gun to bear against the frail Seed, and Shu possesses matchless evasion to keep the worst of the general's assault off him and deadly accuracy to boot. Shu will punch through Seed's armor, ending the fight in far less time than it took him to gain the right to have a match.

Seventeen seasons is a hell of a long time to be snubbed for a match. An entire cult was built around the the ninja gunner, and his inability to get in. So when he finally got a match, it was somewhat anticlimatic. A few fire spells from Seed and Shu was out, and on his way to a possible downgrade.

While he may have been perhaps the most nominated and sought after warrior in RPGDL history, he still folds like a wet paper bag against someone who actually deserves the Heavy division. Or in this case, burns like a dry paper bag.
