Did somebody order an axe to the face? No? Oh well, somebody's gonna get one anyway! Stepping up to fight for the honor of the Lycian League, here comes none other than its leader, Lord Hector of Ostia. And, unlike many other lords, Hector is more than happy to get out of the tedium of ruling for some serious fighting! As for his opponent, eh, he's not worried. Sure, Nel can heal and attack from range and such, but using any of her ranged attacks beyond her pitiful magic will cost her HP, which is a bad idea when fighting someone who hits as hard as Hector. And if she tries to get close ranged, eating counters is even less wise. Really, she's got no way to damage the Ostian Lord safely, and a lucky critical should guarantee Hector his win.

The East versus the West. Swords against sorcery. High-tech knowledge facing medieval lore. This is a long standing rivalry that takes many forms; and, today, it takes the form of a stealthy magical ninja fighting a heavily armored axeman. Hector exemplifies the strengths of his own archetype: he is a powerful and brutal warrior, with unspeakably durable armor and a mighty body build. However, what Nel loses in these categories, she gains in speed and magical prowess - not to mention sharpness of wit. So, Hector can hit her as hard as he wants and take as many hits as he wants, he can't outlast magic, no matter how tough he is. Nel Zelpher will triumph over the Ostian Lord.

Hector was in high spirits as he went in to face Nel. She was just a little ninja girl, and he was a massive brute with a giant axe, what could she possibly do to give him any problems? After all, he had been practicing his axe skills until he got to the point where he could shatter walls with one blow. All it would take to down her was a single axe to the face, and he goes home the winner.
Expecting Nel to avoid closing with him, Hector was rather surprised when instead of running and sniping, she simply stalked right up to him and stared him in the eye.
And then she kicked him in the balls really hard.
MORALE OF THE STORY: A giant axe is one way to get ahead in life, but it’s hard to argue with a boot to the groin.
Hector: 30
Nel Zelpher: 52

Hector and Nel stood at opposite ends of the battlefield, axe and knives drawn...knowing that the next move could result in something--and then Hector charged in, swinging his axe. At Nel Zelpher.
Who threw three Ice Daggers at him, freezing him solid before he fell to the floor, shattering.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Hitting things in the face with an axe really hard is one way to get ahead in life, but it's hard to argue with pseudo-ID status.

First, there's the obvious fact that Nel has the Weapon Triangle Advantage. Second, Hector's main weaknesses are his poor speed, movement, and resistance to magic. And third, he's facing an opponent who can capitalize beautifully on all of these weaknesses (as well as being beautiful in general). Nel can just stay out of his attack range, throwing out Flying Guillotine and Thunder Flare whenever she's far enough away. Even if Hector does manage to get close, Nel's fast enough to dodge most of the time and avoid taking critical blows.

Ninjas are awesome while axmen are a dime a dozen. Nel so shreds Hector.

Before this fight can be considered, first one needs to ask if Hector gets an automatic counter to every single one of Nel's attacks that come as part and parcel to her multi-hit specials. The second thing to ask is if Hector, being from a game where there is no such thing as magic points, usually something immaterial to one's defensive capabilities, can be MP killed by Nel's numerous MP attacks, who is from the only game to my knowledge where running out of MP results in death just as certainly as running out of HP. The THIRD thing one needs to ask is if Nel has to worry about Fury, and if Hector automatically breaks the 100% Fury shield that Nel gets if she is standing very still.
Nel has the upper hand in Hector's weapon triangle: Sword beats axe. Nel also falls prey to Hector's biggest strength: Nel's physicals, for her game, are so-so, and Hector has super-wonderful defense. If that's all there is to it, Nel loses- the best dodging won't always work, and Hector's no slouch when it comes to bashing people's faces in with axes, weapon triangle be damned, not to mention the Swordreaver axe. 1-0.
That said, Nel has symbology. Her spells kind of suck (Since everyone but Sophia's and maybe Adray's spells kind of suck), but the range and the hitting the defense stat Hector isn't as awesome with in addition to the fact that Hector can't possibly MP kill Nel, due to being from a game where MP killing isn't possible, means Nel can hit Hector from a distance and heal herself whenever necessary. And she's, like, a ninja, so moving isn't an issue. 1-1.
If Hector doesn't get a counter for every step of one of Nel's combos, Divine Wrath will CERTAINLY up Nel's chances- and Hector has a low-ish chance to hit Nel due to that self-same weapon triangle dealie. It doesn't matter if Hector attacks once for every once or even twice that Nel attacks- Nel doesn't do enough damage and he does more than enough to withstand an even grudge match, but it does if Hector attacks once for every sixteen to twenty times Nel attacks. 1-2.
If Nel can MP kill Hector, then she can just use a ranged MP-kill attack. Who cares what he can do or how high his defense is if his dodging isn't great and he's effectively OHKO'd the first time she hits? 1-3.
If Hector has to do something special to break Nel's fury shield, like execute an especially strong attack, then he has to critical to hit her, and if he doesn't she repels the damage and stuns him back... or worse. 1-4.
On a playing field that favors Hector, I'd put my bet on him- since special moves don't exist in his game and he outclasses Nel in terms of what Nel can do as a Fire Emblem character. Any grade of playing field that evenly favors both combatants makes me put my bet on Nel.
