Season 38, Week 2
Kharg
(Arc the Lad 4)

Kharg is more than prepared to face off against the newcomer Rufus. And hey, how tough can this be? He's faster, more durable and has much more powerful skills, as well as healing and supportive abilities. With Spirit Amulet, Kharg also nullifies every elemental attack Rufus has, but that isn't even the worst of it. When Kharg summons the Big Owl, a powerful airship, its BFG will splatter Rufus across the floor in an instant. Add it all up, and, put simply, the frail archer doesn't have a prayer. As one of the few remaining representatives of his cast, Kharg will fight his hardest to keep his career from reaching its twilight anytime soon.

Son of elf and man, lover of a valkyrie, heir to divine power and master archer, the hero Rufus makes his long awaited entry into the Duelling League's arena. While his path will be fought with peril, he is determined to make a name for himself in combat. His debut match should hold little in the way of difficulty. Rufus' paralyzing stone and silence attacks will easily shut Kharg down, and his fearsome, defense-ignoring Blue Gale bow will rip right past Kharg’s defenses. It will not be an easy battle, but in the end, Rufus’ victory is the only possible outcome. After all, a halfbreed monster pales in comparison to a a demigod!

Gatewalker
Not wanting to lose his first match, Rufus spent a bit of time doing some research on his opponent, and discovered that Kharg's most feared attack, the Big Owl, had a rather odd weakness that Rufus could exploit. You see, after poking around for a bit, he found out of Kharg's own archer companion, and got to talking with Maru about technique and swapping adventure stories and such, and of course Maru just had to show off his moves to impress a fellow archer. Including Great Hunter.

So, now armed with the knowledge that AtL4 airships could be shot down with arrows, Rufus went into his match with Kharg full of confidence. Sure, he knew it would take skill to shoot down even an arrow vulnerable airship, but he was willing to bet that he had what it took to manage it.

And surely enough, as soon as Kharg called in some close air support from the Big Owl, Rufus took his chance, took aim and fired.

Suprisingly, the ship did indeed come crashing right down. Only instead of landing on Kharg, or landing in the crowds somewhere, it landed right on Rufus.

It turns out that it doesn't actually take much skill to shoot down one of those airships after all. The real trick is making it land where you want it to.
