Season 40, Week 3
Marcello
(Dragon Quest 8)

A giant dragon, the very avatar of the sky in Pokemon form? Now this is more like it. Coming off of that disappointing (and yet highly satisfying) "match" with Lloyd, Marcello is quite ready for something that will actually provide a bit of a challenge. However, being a challenge to overcome does not mean Rayquaza has much of a chance to win this. Waves of Ice will take care of the dragon's potent buffing game, while Marcello's double actions will allow him to keep up the pressure at the same time. And without his precious Dragon Dance in place, what hope does Rayquaza have of killing the tenacious Marcello in a single blow? None, of course, which will effectively disable the dreaded hyper beam attack, as giving an opponent of Marcello's caliber a free turn is practically a death sentence.

The might of Hungry Friend was no match for the sheer godlike aura of the legendary Rayquaza, and if Jowy Atreides could not handle the Dragon Entity with his Black Sword Rune, this cocky templar Marcello will have no hope of victory at all. Sure, he has Icy Waves to dispel Rayquaza's Dragon Dance, and far less reluctance to attack than the caring - if misguided - Atreides kid, but a human is still a human, no matter how powerful their toys may be. Rayquaza is the real deal - a nigh-invincible dragon, mighty enough to instill fear into the hearts of Groudon and Kyogre, and its claws and fangs shall rend Marcello apart, asserting Rayquaza's dominance over Heavy this season. These humans shall be taught which species is truly superior, and it will be a painful lesson!

The battle was furious and swift. A barrage of slams were countered with swift dodges and sword strikes, followed by magical blasts against the dragon. Finally, Rayquaza, sensing an opportunity, slapped Marcello with a stunning blow before unleashing a beam of pure energy...

...only to watch Marcello shake his head, dance forward and slash the energy back at Rayquaza, sending him spiraling out of the arena.

"Know your enemy. And remember when their energy attacks can be reflected. Nice work, Fox." Marcello smirked, before turning out of the arena.
