After defeating one of the best Heavies in the field, last match, Magus is up against yet another hard hitter in Beatrix. With her Holy and Shock, she deals large amounts of damage. However, Magus still has that elemental barrier...which is rather questionable against Holy elemental attacks, which his game rather lacks. Still, he has his counters to her magic, and his high Barriered defenses to stop Beatrix's Seiken skills, and likely enough damage to overcome her healing. Will that be enough? Probably...

General Beatrix has a very tough fight in front of her this week in Magus, the fallen Prince of Zeal. Her magical opponent's barrier will reduce her normally-devastating Shock to a fraction of its ordinary power, as well as flat-out null her Holy. However, Beatrix has more than a few tricks to steal a victory here, though it's questionable how effective they will be. She can try to turn her opponent's counters against him with her Reflect spell. She can try to pummel her opponent with Shock until he drops his barrier (which occurs at roughly half HP). Or, she can just dig in with healing and as much elemental protection as she can find, and outlast Magus with her healing. No matter what, she's in for a tough, close fight.

Ahh yes... the badguy turned good from CT and the badguy turned good from FF9. Unfortunately for Magus, Beatrix has full healing and insane damage output with shock...
Magus (Janus Zeal): 10
Beatrix: 18

Reflect? Who the hell cares about Reflect when 99% of Magus' spells are all area affects, which don't give a damn about Reflect? Magus is in a much better position defensively than Beatrix, who possesses absolutely none of the spells required to counter his uber-cheap barriers. Granted, the general of Alexandria can heal, but her low MP is pathetic compared to the practically infinite reserves of Magus. And should she waste her turns and resources healing, she has practically no means of inflicting any damage. All Magus must do, really, is decide whether he'd prefer to incinerate, shock, or freeze his adversary to death...
