With the holder of a lesser rune benched off for the season, Sasarai is now ready to prove that he has the might to match the Godlike True Rune holders. He won’t face an easy path, but considering Sasarai has particularly been genetically engineered for success, a vanilla gunslinger cleric like Billy shouldn’t pose too much of an issue. Sure, Billy may have oodles of healing, buffing, and even an Earth resistance spell to slow his foes down, but the one thing he lacks is a quick start. If Sasarai can get off an Earthquake or even a Land of Eternity before Billy can get his game into high gear, he can likely make his opponent fall too far behind to catch up, and bringing the Harmonian leader one step closer to the likes of Tir, Riou, and Chris.

The invocation of Billy's Goddess is what protects him. Billy Lee Black doesn't hide behind the divine grace of the saint, but uses her powers to aid him in combat. Goddess Call speeds up the Ethos priest greatly, while Healing Light restores his vitality. It is a deadly combination, as Billy outspeeds even the fastest of heavies once he gets going. But all that holy blessing does is augment his mortal powers as a gunner. Sasarai specializes in magical combat; he has no defenses against something so earthly and normal as a gunshot. Dear Friend will tear through the Harmonian bishop, and not even the world-shaking powers of Land of Eternity can kill Billy, whose spirituality helps protect him against such vile magic.

A priest-off? Sure, Sasarai's Bishopness may have been more political than religious, and Billy had sort-of lost his faith, but hey, it was enough of an excuse for Sasarai to dare Billy to an evangelize-off rather than a standard duel. At least that'd avoid Billy's normally-useless Earth Shield which had ruined him. And even more to Sasarai's surprise, Billy accepted?
Sasarai, being able to summon up a giant Harmonian army who'd be forced to listen to his sermon, figured he had it made. Of course, he hadn't counted on Billy's late-game Haste spell being handy for going door-to-door quickly. While the Harmonians snoozed through Sasarai's attempt at a revival speech, Billy left "Have you been SAVED (from the giant bio-weapon god that wants to eat you) " tracts like a champ, covering the entire DL neighborhood in record time.
The moral of the story is... uh... don't covet your neighbor's things? Keep the Sabbath holy? That's not it. Well, the least happy onlooker was certainly Falenan bodyguard Lyon, who will now go from nearly-upgrading to Godlike to possibly downgrading to Middle. Oops. So I guess the moral is "don't lose to scary damage mages who can be spoiled in Heavy?"
It'll have to do.
