Season 8, Week 3
Freya Crescent
(Final Fantasy IX)

Burmecia's second-best known Dragoon has made it past the qualifiers, facing Tidus this week. Since any attempts to physically attack him will be useless, Freya turns again to her natural abilities to evade the Evade and Counter. She can choose to remove Tidus' MP-using spells and abilities with Lancer, regenerate her HP with Reis' Wind, or lay the hurting with Dragon Crest and Cherry Blossom. As well, if Freya can access her Trance before Tidus' Overdrive, she'll be able to keep out of range and throw down her power on the Blitzballer. This won't be an easy match, but it's one that Freya can win.

Tidus won a match on the strengths of his Caladblog's Evade & Counter ability last week. This week, the star of the Zanarkand Abes is out to prove he's no one-trick pony. His opponent, Freya, had better get ready for a rain of Quick Hits; Tidus can get three off in the space of one turn, and he's faster than the Dragoon to boot. And if Tidus can build up to an Overdrive, which should be no trouble given his quick attack rate, his Blitz Ace will put an end to Freya's season, proving to the world that Tidus is a superstar in the arena of duelling just as he is in that of blitzball.

Tidus whined. And whined, and whined, and whined. And when he was done, he whined some more. "Daddy didn't love me!" he moped as he dragged himself into the Arena.

Freya jumped down into the arena, spear in hand and cotton balls in ears. Being a rat-human... thing, her ears were highly sensitive to high pitched sounds, particularly those made while bitching and whining. However, the cotton balls weren't helping much, she was starting to get a headache just being near this large ball of whining. She wanted the match to end, and she wanted it to end quickly.

With the headache clouding her judgement, she jumped, forgetting about Tidus' evade and counter. When she landed, and missed, the force from the landing shook one of the cotton balls out of her ear, and Tidus' high-pitched whining penetrated into her ear, sending a sharp pain directly to Freya's brain. She covered her head to stop the pain, but it was too late. This was bound to happen to someone, and it was extremely lucky of Tidus that it happened when it did. Tidus' whining finally made someone's head explode.

Now bitching about the pieces of rat-man brain stuck in his hair, Tidus whined his way out of the arena.
