Fights between heroes are pretty common in the league, but few should garner as much attention as this. Two iconic heroes, both the very symbols of their respective lines, duking it out for the glory of their games and all who hail from them! Cloud is formidable, to be sure, but Ryu has more than what it takes to beat him into submission. With his heavy defenses, the dragonboy can easily take a few hits even from Cloud’s offense before transforming into one of his mighty dragon forms and healing it all away. And once transformed, Ryu can blow through what health Cloud has left in one blow, denying him his more powerful Limit attacks. No matter how famous or more successful Cloud is outside the arena, it’s Ryu the first who holds all the cards in this fight!

Man, dragon, silent blue-haired main, no matter who you are, nothing hurts just quite like Cloud's Limits. Damage, status, Instant Death, what have you, Cloud's got it all in one tight package. Ryu can try and chip, but all it takes is one missed step and he's dead, and it's no easy task to whittle down Cloud's HP total to the correct amount. And of course his dragon powers won't kill Cloud in one blow, but would give him the limit gauge necessary to give the Dragon Clan member a sound trashing. Nothing else really matters in this epic fight between two mains, since both characters are almost entirely dependent upon their finishing moves. The match is a pure slugfest, and in most fights like this, you should always go for the man with the gigantic sword.

The fight between Cloud and Ryu started out simple - a few sword slashes, a spell cast here and there. After some progression of the battle, Ryu finally transformed into his dragon form.
Cloud knew what to do. He'd faced a giant dragon before, and the only way to get rid of it was to jump on top of it and attack it while on it's back. Fortunately, he didn't need a bunch of his comrades to throw him skyward, as Ryu wasn't moving too high. With a massive leap, he managed to get high enough, and started performing his signature Braver Limit, going for the style points. This strategy ultimately failed when Ryu caught Cloud in his mouth and proceeded to throttle the hell out of the unfortunate soldier.
Several weeks later, Cloud kindly passed on the message to Sora that you shouldn't always try to jump up on the Hydra's back.
