Season 5, Week 2
Liete
(Grandia)

Liete, the mystical lady of Alent. She's stunningly beautiful, amazingly intelligent, and very deadly. Her signature attack move, Enclose, is the bane of bosses and PCs alike. Stunning and damaging her enemies for a significant amount of time and damage, it also leaves them open for Liete to blast them with her vast array of other spells. In addition to her amazing variety in magic, her defense is simply outstanding, with very high magical resistance and commendable physical defense for a mage. Even if Joe gets a Silent Lake off, she should be able to survive until it wears off. And after that, the Duck will become Duck flambe'.

This battle badly underscores Sgt. Joe's lacking of that quintessential Duck trait, Magic Repel. And because of this, he'll be unable to simply shrug off the worst of Liete's offence, hoping instead that he'll get a Silent Lake off before she can cast Enclose. If he can do that, then he's in for an easy win; and with Liete's easily game-worst speed, he's got a chance of doing it. If he can't, though, there's still hope for the duck to survive. Outside of her Level 3 spells, Liete is one of the worst damage dealers in her game, lacking powerful one-shot attacks like her fellow Grandia characters. When it comes down to it, she's little but versatility and Enclose. If Joe survives Enclose, then one Kindness Drop and a Silent Lake will be all he needs to end it.

Dark Holy Elf
Joe has Silent Lake. That stops spells, and is impossible to defend against. Definitely useful to have.

Liete has Enclose. That stops spells, and is impossible to defend against. Equal match?

Well, no. Since Enclose stops skills and physical attacks, too... in fact, it stops pretty much everything. Everything, that is, except the spell-spamming death that follows...

Liete: 11
Sgt. Joe: 3
