What can one say about Jowy Atreides? The former King of Highland, a strategist to rival the likes of the Silverbergs, a man who would have made Machiavelli proud, and the bearer of the Black Sword Rune. Feared with good reason, this half of the True Rune of Beginning can kill with a knick of its ethereal blade, and young Jowy has all the mental and physical prowess to use it to the utmost. Sporting command of the True Rune and mastery of both sword and staff, the fallen king could well be called one of the League's most fearsome balanced warriors, and what does his new opponent bring against him? Nothing but a few limited physical strikes. If Marsilio is truly wise, he won't even report to the arena.

Marsilio soundly thrashed the comically inept Gilgamesh last week, but he is now almost wishing he'd had a more respectable warmup bout before going head to head with a True Rune bearer. Nevertheless, this crotchety old member of God's Ten Wise Men isn't particularly afraid. Marsilio knows Jowy's strategy is to sling magic while skillfully evading physical harm, and scoffs coldly at the thought of anyone trying to sidestep while he Cruelly Rushes. Yes indeed, with both overwhelming wisdom and physical prowess to propel him, the sapient Marsilio is looking right past the young Atreides - and directly at the Heavy title.

Marsillo ain't the strongest of the Wise men, but that certaintly doesn't stop him. He happily shreds apart your party once, and even though he is eventually defeated he still puts up quite a fight. He does this, mind you, with only Cruelly Rushes and his stats, not anything cheap like Indy's spell spamming or Berle's Meta-Shield cheese. So, all in all, he's pretty respectable.
However, there's no real way he could stand against Jowy and his Black Sword Rune.
