Season 14, Week 3
Rune Walsh
(Phantasy Star 4)

Another Grandia fool lays defeated at Rune's feet, and now he can focus on the next who dares to question his claim Heavy dominance. The arrogant Esper's brilliance is only matched by his faith in his own abilities. Why else would he dare fight someone as feared as Lede? Rune doesn't care how much the odds are stacked against him, nor what petty tricks the Assassin relies on. With no defense against Legeon, Rune merely can press his assault and not worry about what happens when the smoke clears.

Poor Lede, she's really in for a boring week. With her deadly speed and abilities, the Assassin will be winning this match in the time span it takes to take a single breath. Go first and walk up to Rune, instant-kill him with Seal or Stop Breath, and go back to whatever tasks Elmdor has need of her for. Not much planning needs to be involved in this assassination attempt, and being a trained killing machine, she won't make mistakes.

Victory. Rune had not only crushed middle, but he had gotten a win in heavy. That idiot's record was matched... and all that was needed to break it was to stomp this next fool who dared challenge him. Walking over to the arena, Rune looked to see who he was supposed to do battle with.

"Lede...Lede.?!" Rune's eye twitched, and his jaw dropped. However, shock only gripped the Esper for a few seconds. "Of course, there's a tough fight waiting for me. But when has a tough fight stopped me? The evil of Zio fell to my glorious magic. Lassic's revenge failed as soon as he tasted my unbrided wrath. Even the Profoundest Darkness fell before Legeon!" Rune smiled. He had a perfect plan..

"So, you say the nice lady wants to go on an adventure with me!" Justin grinned. "Sure, I'm ready. Thanks for the tip, Rune. Her name is.. Lede?" With a bright look on his face, Justin charged out to the arena. Rune somehow kept from laughing until Justin left. "I should go out and watch the slaughter.. while she finishes off the fool, I can blast her to pieces with Legeon!"

Rune quickly made his to the ring.. of course, the plan didn't go quite as planned. Justin and Lede stood in the ring, talking. Justin had a completely silly look on his face, and the normally stoned faced Assassin was smiling at the young hero.

..."She's GIGGLING?! Does this idiot wield the force again women? He should have been dead already!" The Esper walked quickly to the ring, with the intent of fixing this.

"How DARE you two not fight!" Rune walked up and slapped Justin upside the head. "And you... why would you pay attention to that fool? I'm five times the man he'll ever be, brilliant and smart and handsome and gr-urk!"

Lede had lifted the Esper up by his throat. "You're one to talk, Esper. You think I didn't see right through this trick? Better luck next time you try and steal a win." Lede effortlessly threw Rune out of the ring, right into the stands. The force of the blow knocked the Esper out cold.

"Urg..." Rune shook his head. It was worth a shot, but it looked like his plan failed. "At least I still have my pride.." Rune glanced up at the ring, and saw Feena staring down the Assassin, with hate burning in her eyes.

"..How DARE you use my sweet Justin in an evil plan, and put the moves on him!! Get away from him!"

"At least one of those horrible women will taste defeat. Time for me to make my escape..." Rune gathered himself up, and just as he was doing so..

*THUNK*

"Oh, hi, Rune. Sorry about landing on your legs like that! Feena wasn't happy that Lede and I were going on an adventure, so she told me to go away. Lede was even nice enough to give me a helping hand out of the ring!"

Rune sighed, and glanced over to the ring. Feena and Lede stood, brawling for all they were worth. Over Justin, of all things. Shaking his head, Rune grimaced. He'd never figure out women. But..

"That is an interesting fight.. and one of those horrible women suffer a painful defeat no matter what." Somehow finding the energy to get up, Rune pulled himself into a nearby undamaged chair. Justin also got up and sat right by the battered mage. Annoyed, Rune muttered a few magical words...

"Seals! Now shut up and watch the fight, idiot."

The two rivals sat side by side in silence, watching yet another fight sparked by Rune's brains and Justin's spirit.
