Season 6, Week 3
Shadow
(Final Fantasy VI)

With his Memento Ring firmly in place, Shadow is in for an easy battle this week. Alys' strongest move, Death, is useless, and she'll be hard pressed to take down Shadow before the speedy assassin can take her down with two well-aimed Falchions thrown her way.

Shadow is immune to Alys's best attack, Death. That coupled with his powerful offense and good speed make it appear that this is a match that Alys can't win. Not so. Alys's defense checking Moonshade attack will cost Shadow a turn before he can even go, and with his piddling defense and MDef, he can't afford that. Vortex can bypass Shadow's Image trick, and her attack magic will thwart any attempts to use an Inviz Edge. Alys already has beaten a Final Fantasy Ninja. Will Shadow be the next victim?

The fact of the matter is, this match proves that it's not so much how fancy you can throw things, in spirals, large loops, and directly into people's throats.

No, in the end, it's just how big and pointy the thrown weapon is.

Alys, for all her throwing skill, just can't manage to throw anything as pointy as a Tack Star, nor nearly as heavy as a lance made of solid gold.
