Season 17, Week 3
Beatrix
(Final Fantasy IX)

The most powerful Swordswoman in all of Gaia has faced some tough battles in her time at the RPGDL. She’s stared down Sinistrals, Androids, and Paladins, this match will pose little challenge for her. Her powerful Holy magic will rip through the darkness-spawned Lassic, and her healing spells will allow her to weather Lassic’s magical blows, assuming they can even get past Reflect. After just a few turns and a flip of her hair, Beatrix will be well on her way to her second Heavy championship.

Mighty king and deadly sorcerer, the lord of Baya Malay and Air Castle has already begun to dominate Heavy this season. With a false emperor down for the count, Lord Lassic must now destroy a would-be heroic knight on his path to dominance. Though Beatrix's mighty Holy spell will sting the dark-enshrouded monarch quite a bit, one blow will not take him down so easily. As before, opening Another Gate will send his foe to an early grave, and clear his path of yet another minor obstacle to his championship.

SageAcrin
A Holy Swordswoman and true hero... against a evil demon that fears the light.

RPG Cliche #1: Evil Demon always loses in these things. Period.

(RPG Sub-Cliche #1: With the exception of fights where the evil demon defeats the enemy hero and gloats over it, but doesn't actually kill the hero. However, this doesn't apply to Lassic.)

Normally, that would be that, but Lassic isn't a terribly stupid demon, actually. So, he came up with a fiendish plan.

Then, amazingly, he came to his senses and read a book of RPG cliches.

RPG Cliche #2: All the fiendish plans the demon makes against the holy warrior never work. Ever. Really. Evil Demon is screwed.

Then he forfeited the match. As such, he has the truest victory of them all: He's managed to fight RPG cliches... and win.

Oh, and he managed to talk Quina into cooking Save the Queen and (attempt to) eat it. But that's a story for another time.

Beatrix: 45
Lassic: 16
