Season 46, Week 5
Chisato Madison
(Star Ocean: The Second Story)

Well, this ought to shut up everyone who made fun of Chisato for only having power on the Behind the Scenes set - she's in the finals and about to win. Imoen's defensive tricks will require a somewhat different approach than Chisato's normal matches, but she has an answer to all of them. Ten Thousand Volts doesn't require Chisato to see Imoen; she can just step in Imoen's general direction and fire off a nasty shock if she uses her invisibility. Flamethrower's barrage of hits completely overwhelms Stoneskin with damage to spare. And Chisato's textbook strategy of hitting with Rising Dragon over and over again can be used to splatter Imoen if she doesn't bother setting up her defenses and tries to be aggressive with her status attacks. Chisato is brash, headstrong, and angry, but she's not stupid. By using the right tools, she can easily take this title.

Finally, Imoen's bad luck has truly turned. After being trapped in a house of death, being imprisoned for using magic, and of course, languishing in the doldrums of the Light division for much of the DL's history, the hybrid thief-mage finally has her chance to win a title, upgrade and escape this division of losers. And the only person who stands in her way now? Another pure physical fighter. Sure, Chisato may have quite the cutting wit outside of the arena, but in the end, the only real damage she can inflict is physical. And, of course, Imoen's already bested three physical fighters with Stoneskin, which renders her immune to physical attacks for several turns, giving her ample time to confuse or charm everyone's favorite BtS host into submission. Finally, the legend of Imoen and the strength of the heroes of Baldur's Gate will be known throughout the DL.

Uh...

Backstab!

Uh...

Backstab!

I mean, Imoen's not totally boned here, but she's outgunned and out varietied. She can't compete with a super technological reporter girl with just some sneaking stabbing stunts. Sorry girl.

Chisato is intelligent.

Chisato is blindingly fast.

And Chisato can sense a pattern.

"Why is Chisato beating Imoen senseless with Odin?" Kurando asked curiously from his judges box. "Isn't he one of the judges?"

"Something about beach volleyball." Miguel shrugged. "I didn't really follow it."

It turns out that Odin makes an excellent bludgeon. His incredibly hard head and high weight, combined with Chisato's primal fury-which was being taken out on Imoen-meant the poor girl never stood a chance.

Oddly, Chisato doesn't remember any of it, according to her. Something about blacking out in pure rage after someting Odin said. Oh well, there's worse ways to win a finals.
