Season 50, Week 1
Camus
(Suikoden II)

Oceans of fire, burning all to ash. Flames burning and flickering constantly, eating away at a limitless supply of fuel, existing only to destroy. The Rage Rune draws from such an immense source of power and summons forth a fraction of that energy to obliterate any who challenges it's master. The Captain of the Red Knights spent many years learning to draw forth the smallest bit of that energy to kill, for much more could devastate and turn even the rich lands of the city-state to ash. Camaro's brightest son was gifted the rune when he became the youngest Knight Captain in Matilda's lengthy history, proving his nobility and what a sad miscarriage of justice his current Light rank is. Camus's rune is power in it's purest form, and far more power than the king of Obel can hope to withstand.

Lino en Kuldes, founder of the Island Nations as a unified state, one of the most significant figures in the history of his world, is in for possibly the toughest battle of his life. Though a mere officer in the Matilda Knighthood, Camus is a fearsome warrior, a sure sword arm backed by devastating skill with the Rage Rune. And though Lino has some affinity for fire himself, eating a steady diet of Explosion and Final Flame is not going to win him this match. No, the fighting Monarch must employ all his skill with a lance, all the strength and speed he can muster, to force Camus into a physical duel. There, Lino's lance and experience should quickly prove him the better, and having felled Camus his journey to a Light Championship should be smooth sailing.

"1...2...3!"

"Rock!"

"Paper!"

"Dammit!" Lino En Kuldes sighed, walked back to his side of the arena and picked up his spear, "Let's just get this over with then."

Camus smiled, "Gladly."

Ten seconds later, the blinding flash of the Rage Rune finally subsided, leaving Lino flat on his back and Camus calmly bowing to the crowd.

After she helped her father regain consciousness, Flare had to ask, "So, what would have happened if you won that throw?"

Lino laughed, "We would have had a ship battle, of course. I figure I'd have the edge there."

"...Dad? He still has a Rage rune. That would be pretty bad on the wrong end of a rune cannon."

"...oh yeah."
