Season 50, Week 4
Camus
(Suikoden II)

Fighting Fire Emblem is a tricky thing. If you're getting doubled, it's a scary thing. Two blows landing to every one of yours. It's not shocking that the best FE fighters are almost all very quick. Hawkeye, however, isn’t that fast. Considering the raw power of the Rage Rune, not even the most resilient mage can withstand two of Camus's spells per round, let alone an Axeman with average magical resist. All Hawkeye can do in return is hit him with an axe, which Camus has a fair chance of parrying. Real scary. So scary that Camus will be driven to tears at the challenge in front of him. That, or driven to laughter. It's about the same in this horrendous slaughter.

Louise and Pent's friend faces a tall task this week. Hawkeye is certainly solid in both body and mind, possessing both solid RES and enough STR to easily match Camus if he foolishly tries melee combat. However, the Rage Rune that Camus possesses is a problem, as is Hawkeye's lack of speed. What can Hawkeye do to match blades against the combination warrior and mage then? A Hand Axe lets him get the range to match the scorching rune, and his backround as guardian of the desert means that a little heat won't bother him at all. Hawkeye is a berserker after all; one critical hit from him after he closes in and Camus will be down for good.

Now this is a quandary.

On the one hand, you have the mighty axe, champion of the Duelling League.

On the other hand, you have cleansing fire, the ultimate winner in all encounters outside of the League.

What happens when these two forces collide?

"...why won't this universe stay fixed?" Lenneth Valkyrie puzzled.

She'd remake it.

It'd blow up.

She'd remake it.

It'd blow up.

Close examination found the answer.

And so, for the good of the Duelling League, she created an answer, at a point in time before this endless conflict could begin.

Something even more powerful than this terrible clash of forces.

---

By Duelling League standards, perhaps it wasn't so weird.

Camus prepared to incinerate his foe.

Hawkeye prepared to slam an axe in his foe's face.

A strange man appeared out of nowhere, blasting Hawkeye in the face with a massive, flaming punch before telling him teasingly to show him his moves.

And Camus was blasted by a massive barrage of weaponry, as some strange person in a mecha asked him how much he liked him now or something like that.

Hawkeye died first, so the judges just shrugged and called Camus the winner.

It wasn't like it was an important match anyways. I mean, it's Light.

Camus: 39
Hawkeye: 12
