Season 51, Week 3
Anri
(Shining Force)

The stout princess of Guardiana may have been utterly disgraced by her downgrade to Light many seasons ago, but she has both the will and the might to prove the injustice that has been perpetrated. And this week, as she faces a waifish housewife, she will drive the point home a nudge further. Tia may have a slew of fancy tricks under that innocent-looking exterior, but she can't stave off the horrendous frailty she sports. Anri's Freeze spells should utterly ravage the young shopkeeper, avoiding the healing strategy Tia's known for altogether, and she's not even that far off from Tia's speed. Not to mention Anri isn't exactly as frail as you'd expect, and she does not fear her opponent's own spellcasting. It's time for the princess to right what's been done wrong, and Tia's defeat will be yet another step towards rightful retribution.

The arena is no longer a house of horrors for Tia, as she claimed a long overdue win in week 1 by crushing Chaco. Her path to victory isn't as simple this week, as Tia has to outlast Anri's MP. Tia's blessed with excellent magical defense along with some healing magic along and plenty of speed. Anri's got some decent defenses of her own...it's a shame she can't have them both, though. Either she takes her Shining Force form with its respectable physical staying power but no magic defense at all, or her remake form, where she can guard against magic but might as well be made of tissue against Tia's frying pan of doom. Whichever she chooses, Tia's large advantage in MP means she'll be healing long after Anri has blown her MP. Once that happens Tia can overwhelm Max's friend with a swarm of status spells, IPs, and defensive buffs.

A simple match.

One person needed to kill in one hit.

The other needed to not be killed in that hit.

There was nothing that could be done. It would happen, or it wouldn't.

Or was there?

"..." Anri, beet red, attempted to cast Freeze 4 again.

Successfully hitting four squares away from Tia.

"...at least...cover yourself with your hands or something!" Anri sputtered, and got a face-full of whip for her pains.

"...sigh. The things a girl will do to not get mocked." Tia noted, as she looked down at her not-concealing-enough Seethru Cape.

Certainly, it was an effective strategy. A prude like Anri couldn't possibly concentrate like that.

But at what cost?

Like Sten groping you?

Well, just because they haven't been as active lately doesn't mean perverts don't still exist in the league, after all.

By the time Tia realized that it was, in fact, not worth it, it was far too late. But hey, a win is a win.
