Season 54, Week 4
Landis
(Suikoden III)

Formerly allies in the Grasslands/Harmonia conflicts, Landis and Beecham now face each other in a bloody duel at the Duelling League. All that aside, though, this fight is clean-cut: Landis the reaper is quite capable of overwhelm Beecham's Water Rune healing. After all, with each swipe of his scythe, he can freeze the Karayan warrior in place for another round of deadly slashes. Given how frail Beecham is, he will spend most of his time recovering from the gashes inflicted by the deadly winged warrior, and this only gets him closer to an untimely demise: a well-placed swipe will permanently freeze Beecham, and then he shall know the sweet embrace of death as Landis ends him.

After having to beat up one fellow member of the Fire Bringer Army, Beecham now must handle another one? What cruel game is this? Well, luckily for the experienced Grasslander, Landis isn’t a very friendly type anyway. Beecham’s plentiful healing should help him emerge victorious, especially since Landis’ Blood Armor siphons away his HP every turn! And while Landis’ Freeze skill is quite dangerous, Beecham still has a chance to kill in time. While he may not be a powerhouse, his physical is still potent enough to take out Landis quickly - with a little luck with crits anyways. But Beecham’s luck has already lasted him through 50+ years. Certainly one more fight is nothing compared to that!

Landis really does use a creepy fighting style to match is looks. He has excellent status from his Freeze skill, and drains life on critical hits. He isn't high on damage and doesn't -always- status, but a mere healer like Beecham has next to no chance to win before he's stopped in his place. Being frozen in place, with only getting free long enough to maybe heal for a single turn? That is horrifying and a bad way to go down. Beecham can always cut and run, though he knows that Landis delights in the chance to terrify his opponent. May as well suck it up and fight to the bitter end; there are no good options when fighting a wingly freak who could be an extra in your average Saw movie.
