Coming into this battle, Elly faces not a slow hulk that's easily vulnerable to her spells, but rather a somewhat below average fighter who still is better than her in most ways. However, with her trusty Lunar Rod she has seven, somewhat low chance, shots at putting her foe to sleep. And at that point, it's just a matter of waiting for her ethers to hit, or simply hoping to keep the streak up as she continues to pound away.

Being only a slightly more competant fighter than his Solarian foe, and not immune to her sleep effect either, he'll have to get creative if he hopes to win. And that is where his swiss army knife of a rune comes into play. He has Wind of Sleep which can let him turn the tables and put his foe to sleep, Healing Wind to fully heal him, The Shredding for a potent wind elemental attack if he needs it, and Storm Warning to reflect any magic that hits him back at Elly, using her own ethers against her. With all of that variety, will any of it prove able to grant him the victory here?

Elly decided that she had better end the battle quickly, and rushed into one of her many attack combos to try and put her noble foe to sleep, only to have him expertly parry each and every one of her attacks. "Did you know," Vincent said conversationally as he parried her attacks, "That my native Toran has some of the best stave fighters in all the worlds? And that my dearest frineds, Tir and Riou, were ever so kind as to spare me from all of that messy frontline buisness so that I might spend more time learning how to block and evade these techniques, like so!" he finished as his sword moved adeptly past all of Elly's attempts to parry it, and promptly finishing her as well.
