Season 18, Week 3
Luna
(Lunar: Silver Star Story)

With the soul of a goddess and the fighting prowess of... well, a Light, Luna's kind and generous demeanor doesn't exactly bring duelling to mind. As a Light healer, she's relatively standard. Relying on weak damage, deep reserves of healing, and plenty of buffing spells isn't anything that raises eyebrows in light, but it ought to be enough to put Earnest to the test. Although the Paladin has a fearsome grimace and terrible weaponry to match, Luna's token strategy of simply outlasting her foe will still be effective here. A bit of singing and a lot of faith in herself will no doubt be enough to at least make for a very close fight.

Having triumphed in his first Duelling League match, Earnest has has earned a degree of notoriety previously unheard of in Shining Force centaur knights, and continues to reach for the stars (and moon) this week. Unlike Wan Fu, though, Luna is a character people care about; her fan support had made Earnest both nervous and envious. Nevertheless, the horse-man is riding hish. Luna's defense is nothing impressive, so she should be reeling after a few of Earnest's spear strikes, and her paltry damage should put no fear in a seasoned warrior. If all goes according to plan, Earnest should finally gain some recognition from the RPGDL fans.

Luna against Earnest is a match so sad that even the judges couldn't bear to watch.

Luna then did just the right thing to do: used her plot powers two days before the match to cast a spell that caused a suicidal depression spree over the entire Shining Force cast. They met together at Mr. Saturn Village and commited ritual mass suicide. That gave her the match, since Earnest never showed up.

Unfortunately, as part of the medical cast of the DL, she lost her voice healing all the wounds the Shining Force crew inflicted towards each other. She hasn't sung since.

Earnest had heard all the rumours - that Luna was an unstoppable, blood-gorged goddess of death, the ultimate singing weapon of apocalypse. It was said that countless men had fallen to her monstrous wiles and her endless appetite for destruction. And yet Earnest took courage, polished up his lance and flew into the ring, ready to duel to the death.

Luna meanwhile, took the time to play through Shining Force before the match, to study her opponent's abilities. However, she fell asleep in the middle of Chapter 1 and afterward fed the game to Nall in contempt.

Thus underestimating her opponent, Luna entered the ring, and the struggle began.

Steel clashed on steel as these two heroes did battle, grunting and roaring in pain and fury, seeking to exploit even the smallest mistake. The battle wore on, as Luna took wounds terrible enough to drop a musk-ox, only to immediately heal herself, while the whacks of her frying pan left Earnest groaning and staggering from severe brain damage. The ugliest part of the fight saw Luna mounted astride Earnest, trying to gnaw off his ear while he desperately jumped up and down, trying to shake her off. Her grip loosened - she flew off and seeing his chance Earnest lunged, skewering Luna with an impressive, japanimelike burst of blood.

"Oh no..." Luna gasped. "Please forgive me... Alex..."

And finally the grim battle was over. Children wept in the audience.
