Estella had heard what happened to Joker. Caught in his own spell, pitiful way to lose a battle. She was far smarter than that.
Unfortunatly, she's also far worse of a smooth-talker than she thinks.
She just couldn't make the judges believe she had thought he was a alien invader from another planet, hell-bent on destruction, when she Final Flamed him in his room while he slept.
To boot, she never even noticed that it didn't kill him, just turned around after casting the spell and walked out. For that matter, she didn't even notice the few people walking in the corridor outside.
So, really, she wasn't far smarter than that, as the disqualification proved.
Mostly, you have to feel sorry for Rody, though, she blamed her entire loss on him not corroborating her story, had him go clean out random Duelling League bathroom toilets for his offense, and then told him to go hurl bricks at the judges. Which, of course, he did.
Sadly for her, the first judge hit was smart enough to ask if Estella had told him to do that.
And that's how Estella ended up Badrach's personal masseuse.

Having convinced Gryz that she was the next Tenkai Star with tempting promises of spoils of war and a faux accent, Estella rode alongside her new companion. Gryz rode on his ass like a patriarch, longing to see himself soon governor of the island his master had promised him. And now said he to his master, "Your worship will take care, mistress Tenkai Star, not to forget about the island you have promised me, for be it ever so big I'll be equal to governing it." To which Estella replied, "Thou must know, friend Gryz, that it was a practice very much in vogue with the Heros of old to make their Stars of Destiny governors of the islands or kingdoms they won, and I am determined that there shall be no failure on my part in so liberal a custom; on the contrary, I mean to improve upon it, for they sometimes, and perhaps most frequently, waited until their subordinates were old, and then when they had had enough of service and hard days and worse nights, they gave them some title or other, of count, or at the most marquis, of some valley or province more or less; but if thou livest and I live, it may well be that before six days are over, I may have won some kingdom that has others dependent upon it, which will be just the thing to enable thee to be crowned king of one of them. Nor needst thou count this wonderful, for things and chances fall to the lot of such Stars in ways so unexampled and unexpected that I might easily give thee even more than I promise thee."
"In that case," said Gryz, "if I should become a king by one of those miracles your worship speaks of, even Rika, my old friend, would come to be queen." "Well, who doubts it?" said Estella. "I doubt it," replied Gryz, "because for my part I am persuaded that though God should shower down kingdoms upon us, not one of them would fit the head of Rika. Let me tell you, Estella, she is not worth two potch for a queen; countess will fit her better, and that only with God's help." "Leave it to God, Gryz," returned Estella, "for he will give her what suits her best; but do not undervalue thyself so much as to come to be content with anything less than being governor of a province." "I will not," answered Gryz, "specially as I have a woman of such quality for a master in your worship, who will know how to give me all that will be suitable for me and that I can bear."
Shortly afterwards Estella perceived a man on horseback who wore on his head something that shone like sapphire, and the moment she saw him she turned to Gryz and said: "I think, Gryz, there is no proverb that is not true, all being maxims drawn from experience itself, the mother of all the sciences, especially that one that says, 'what is mine is yours, and what is yours is mine,' I say this because, if I mistake not, there comes towards us one who wears on his head the long lost Wind Hat of Sasari, not seen since the Gate Rune Wars." "Mind what you say, your worship, and still more what you do," said Gryz. "The devil take thee, man," said Estella; "why speak in such a manner? Tell me, seest thou not yonder knight coming towards us on a dappled grey steed, who has upon his head a helmet of the brightest blue?" "What I see and make out," answered Gryz, "is only a man on a grey ass like my own, who has something blue on his head." "Well, that is the three foot high hat of Sasari," said Estella; "without saying a word, to save time, bring this adventure to an issue, and fetch for me the hat I have so longed for or I'll full the soul out of you." Gryz held his peace in dread lest his master should carry out the vow she had hurled like a bowl at him.
So Gryz got it but got busted or something and forfeited the RPGDL match cause he was in jail or something.
