Season 25, Week 1
Chisato Madison
(Star Ocean: The Second Story)

The triumphant return of journalist love is accompanied by trumpets, orchestras and a violent writer-turned-pundit ready to break all conventions of decency, gentleness and fair play! Miss Chisato Madison is once again ready to bruise, maul and smash her opponents in the arena, and fate once again sets her against a hapless Suikoscrub! Poor Kirkis will have his elven face completely ruined after it takes the brunt of the Rising Dragons, Tear Gases and plain brutality this reporter has to deliver! Journalist love is back with a vengeance, and its weapon isn't a pen: it's a hand that hits like a freight train!

Sylvina has done Suikoden elves the multiverse over proud by winning a match (sure, it was Gobi, but it still counts as a win) and Kirkis has every intention of doing just as well. While Chisato is quite the demon behind the scenes, in the arena she's just another scrub with an evadable attack. It's a shame, then, that Kirkis is one of the best evaders in a cast as huge as Suikoden - she'll be hard-pressed to even land a punch on him. Combined with his good speed and damage that, while not great, is good enough to take down the reporter, the elf will easily match his sweetheart's success in the ring.

The stakes on this match were pretty high, everyone was thinking it was a close match up in terms of general duelling abilities. On the other hand everyone was arguing over the possibility of Chisato taking a dive, it certainly would have been in character and the Behind the Scenes crew were generally pretty solid with their Shady connections (what with the underground being run by the ninja cat thing and all that jazz). Bets were high and no matter the outcome, someone was looking to make a lot of money off it.

The dive never happened, what was seen by all was a very drunk and quite worse for wear Kirkis stumble into the Arena on the day of his match. It was pointedly noted by some observers later on that Reno and Rude were hovering close by the entire time, as if they had escorted Kirkis to the match in his current condition. It was also noted that Reno was seen urinating in some nearby bushes not long after the match either.

There was no mention of any of this in the media, just the results mentioned and glossed over.

Yeah, someone got rich off all this.

Chisato Madison: 56
Kirkis: 47

Wow. I feel really, really bad for Kirkis.. I mean... ouch. Tear Gas alone will... Whew, no, it's too horrible to think about. Let's just put this all behind us as quickly as possbile. Um... Yay Chisato!
