Season 35, Week 1
Gwyn
(Lunar 2: Eternal Blue)

Old man fever grips the DL as stalwart veteran Gwyn steps into the arena once again! Well, hopefully the elderly can enjoy their time in the spotlight while Gwyn reviews his life insurance policy with Arena coverage. But that delay won't stop him from coming out in full force! (Though Hiro may find his inheritance sorely lacking.) Shattered Sword can render his pure-physical opponent helpless, leaving Gwyn free to cane the young whippersnapper into obedience! While a monk like Yang might not need more, if he's willing to fight Gwyn, he obviously needs a few more lessons on respecting his elders!

Vega's got nothing on Fabool's master monk. Before Edge ever dreamed of picking up a claw to raise hell, Yang was training hard to perfect his craft. His will and body are stronger than iron. As a Light competitor with durability that few bosses, let alone PCs, can muster, he's an incredibly tough foe to face. Boasting incredible stats and status, his physical abilities should overwhelm the frail Gwyn in no time flat. The real question of the fight is if Yang will even get properly warmed up for Week 3's battle. After all, the quickest way to injure yourself in a fight is not to stretch properly first. Ah-choo!

Beautiful women.

Warm sun.

A pina colada in hand.

Gwyn knows how to fight in style.

As it turns out, he expected the near-instant death at Yang's hands. So, rather than avoid the fight, as some would, he faced it like a man.

And abused the fact the little-known fact that you can run almost anything up on a Duelling League charge account if it's for a duel.

So Yang, eventually, had his disgust overcome his nobility and kicked the lounging-in-a-lawn-chair Gwyn into a wall.

But for Gwyn, it was worth it.

Especially when the girls he hired followed him into convalesence.

Of course, it was eventually noticed that he had hired five women on general retainer using a League charge account, but hey, getting beaten to a pulp again by the debitors(You'd be amazed how many DL mercs they hire for that.) was still worth it.

I think he's starting to like that, too.
