Season 36, Week 1
Marcus
(Final Fantasy IX)

Under different circumstances, the resident roughneck of the Tantalus band might be hitting on a scantily-clad showgirl like Miki rather then hitting her with a sword, but so it goes. Anyway, even though Marcus would really rather not fight her, he won't insult her fighting ability by holding back. He's known a few female warrior-types in his time, after all, and he's not about to underestimate Miki, despite her rather...unusual choice of weapons and fighting attire. After all, how weird is a dancer next to a pre-schooler summoner and a lance-wielding rat-thing? His strategy here is the same as it always is. Grab a sword, hit his foe with it as hard as he can and hope it's enough. Of course, as a thief he could always try to snatch of a piece of her flimsy outfit and hope she's embarrassed enough to run for cover, but that's not Marcus's style. Who do you think he is, Zidane?

Miki takes to the field this week against the..."fearsome" bandit Marcus. Miki prefers to perform with her co-worker Nikki and Marcus takes a sneakier, 'knife-in-the-back' approach to conflict. But the two of them fight for your amusement nonetheless, and while they aren't renowned for their combat ability, the ensuing match should be somewhat entertaining, right? At least it'll be short, as durability is thin on the ground here. Miki's headstomps should give Marcus pause, and his own attacks are as scrubby as ever. With no outside complications to worry about, the battle should come down to a truly puny physical battle, where Miki has the edge. Marcus might try stealing, but he won't get many opportunities but all he's likely to get is a boot to the head for his trouble. Either way, there should be a toasted thief and a triumphant dancer at the end of the match!

Taishyr
Miki and Marcus faced each other in the arena, sweat trickling down their faces. The crowd was silent, all perverts removed by Zidane at a request from Marcus. (Or maybe a bribe, we don't know.)

Marcus made the first move, slashing down and up in a quick series of strokes.

The paper fell to the ground, and in Miki's hands rested a string of little hearts. The crowd applauded. Miki bowed and placed the string of hearts next to her.

"What would you have me do for your feat of talent, miss Miki?" Marcus asked gravely.

"You need nothing but to stand perfectly still." Miki sweetly replied as she slowly began to circle him. Marcus watched her as she slowly began to spin in to Marcus' location like a hawk.

Then, in a split second where Marcus had to shift to look at Miki, she struck. Marcus attempted to raise his arms, but it was of no use.

Miki's hip slam sent Marcus flying straight into the stadium benches, bowling over Jude and Yulie before coming to a rest in Yunalesca's lap.

After Marcus re-landed in the arena, Miki walked over to him and flipped him hip-slammed side up.

"Behold, on his leg." Miki said crisply to silence the crowd.

"The sigil of the Royal Heart Breaker."

Then she pulled Marcus up to her lips and kissed him.

The happy couple's been seen running around various places, on the run from two rabid jet plane pilots who seem intent on "displaying the true power of the Royal Heart Breaker."

Still, the two seem happy enough, so who's to interfere with love except Miki's next match?

Marcus: 23
Miki: 71
