Season 53, Week 2
Euram Barows
(Suikoden 5)

Ah, humility,. What a terrible feeling it can be to have it thumped into you! Euram has felt this pain before, and now he shall foist it on others! Jin Uzuki may be adept at cutting apart unthinking, emotionless mechs, but he has never had to pit his swordsmanship skills with a noble, passionate warrior such as Euram Barows. Why, if the mere presence of his sister could force Jin to hide under furniture (or was it the reverse?), imagine the stark terror stricken into his heart if he witnessed Euram's exploits at the city of Sable! Yes, Euram may be quite pompous and arrogant, but Jin is about to learn the hard way why he has every right to be.

Well, here we go. What can possibly be said about this matchup? Euram Barrows is quite possibly the worst fighter this side of Jogurt - anyone with combat prowess comparable to Ramus Farmain's shouldn't have much trouble taking down the aristocrat in a duel. Especially when you're backing your words up with a plethora of deadly sword techniques, speed and a mix of supporting ether skills. Not that it's likely Jin will need them for this fight - a single Gale Strike will end this battle in an instant, not necessitating any further explanation as to why Jin is the superior fighter in this duel. Really.

Euram regains his sense of honor and dignity at the end of the game, in several touching scenes. Jin... let's not go there, but it's bad. What Euram never gained was the ability to actually -fight-. While his swordsmanship may scare the mighty Jogurt and perhaps a Suikodog or two, it won't do much more than get a belly laugh from Jin- and the usual brutal beating Euram gets every time he tries to fight.
