Season 57, Week 4
Karyl Sheeden
(Tales of Destiny)

Karyl might normally be inclined to write a soppy ballad for the broken-hearted Tia after Maxim left her hanging, but he knows that she’s no regular moping teenager. No, Tia has already proven that she’s a foe to be taken seriously, and Karyl instead will be playing her a dirge. After all, Tia’s poor defense and HP will mean that Karyl should have an easy time in a slugfest, and if Tia’s combo of healing, speed, and IP threatens to overwhelm him anyway, he can always opt for the paralysis-inducing Rumba to finish Tia off instead. It won’t be easy, but as a famed musician, Karyl knows exactly how to deal with those starry eyed pesky teenagers! A deadly song and a guitar to the face!

Her name may mean tears, but Tia is no sap. She's been around the block, having helped Maxim fight off the terrifying power of Gades and faced losing her quasi-boyfriend to another woman. She won't fall for the foppish exterior that Karyl Sheeden hides behind. The nobleman's cover has been blown by his repeated successes in Light, so Tia will be on guard. Tia has the advantage in speed and resources the shopkeeper from Elcid just has to heal if he goes for damage, attack if he heals, and sling her superior status if Karyl lowers his weapon and tries to get serious. The bard can sing all he wants, but he'd be best served for saving it for the nurses after Tia whips his ass.

The whips.

The knives.

The...scanty see-thru dresses.

All of that and it was Tia's strength that saw her through this match.

Specifically it was Tia casting Strong over and over while Karyl ignored all of those things and tried to kill her.

Sometimes, even when you win, you lose. But in this case it's the kind of losing where you burn all the little pieces of the person left on the arena while muttering in rage, crying and wondering why you are completely invisible to everyone even remotely male.
