It didn't take much for the great historian Chaz to overcome his previous opponent, but he now faces someone far more frightening than Marcus: a character with half-decent stats. Luckily for Chaz, Rico is not without his own weaknesses. The battle-tested arena dueller may be strong, but he has not developed the ability to kill even a frail mage in one attack combo, nor has he ever aquired any sort of speed or magical defense. These weaknesses play right into Chaz's strengths as a frail mage with powerful magic and average speed. Chaz is in a perfect position to make Rico look like Marcus, this week, and we all know how embarassing that is.

Rico's no artist in the ring. Raised in a slum, he's learned to cut out the fancy stuff and just goes with what works. A brutal grappling style of fighting is his specialty, and it got him out of many tight spots in the dark alleys of Kislev's prison district. It's easily adaptable, too. Sure, Rico's used to fighting toughs and goons, but his fists don't know the difference between a thug and a thaumaturgist. And, yes, Chaz slings painful spells, but - like Brey before him - can't stand to have anything slung back at him. A few crushing strikes and Chaz will be down for the count, while Rico Banderas moves on to show Light the strength of a true champion.

You know, it can quite possibly be considered a rule of the DL. One of the very, very few.
The universe hates Shining Force 2.
When Rico entered the arena against Chaz, the rule hadn't truly been proven yet. After all, the only truly major example of this had been Geshp being beaten by Serge, and one miracle doesn't make for a rule.
However, as the crowd watched a injured Rico somehow manage to stagger to his feet, after a blast of Bolt 4, the event that made the rule happened.
As a flock of Dezolis penguins rushed into the arena and pecked Chaz to death.
No one really knows why Dezolis Penguins occasionally become violent, but they are quite possibly the most unstoppable force in existance when angered. Capable of withstanding all physical and magical blows, their powerful beaks can fell even the most powerful of Godlikes in one mighty peck.
Chaz was horribly doomed. As was most of the arena security. They eventually just ended up getting a bunch of mages to put the birds to sleep, and hauling their lard-laden feathery bodies to a nature preserve.
The entire footage of this match can be seen later tonight, on "When Dezolisian Penguins Attack-Part 2!" on the Flea/Odin/X-Death network.
